Job Skills / Requirements

ESS Clean is looking for a motivated, hands-on leader to join our team as an Area Manager supporting the Champaign-Urbana region and surrounding areas. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys leading teams, solving problems, and staying actively involved in day-to-day operations.

As an Area Manager, you’ll oversee janitorial services across multiple client sites, ensuring consistent quality, strong team performance, and outstanding customer satisfaction. You’ll play a key role in supporting employees, building client relationships, and stepping in when needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support cleaning teams across multiple locations
  • Step in and perform hands-on cleaning when needed to maintain service continuity
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality standards and contract requirements are met
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing needs promptly and professionally
  • Manage employee schedules to ensure consistent and timely service delivery
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff on cleaning techniques, safety, and performance expectations
  • Oversee inventory, supplies, and equipment across all assigned sites
  • Communicate with leadership on performance, challenges, and improvement strategies
  • Coordinate special projects and deep-cleaning services
  • Respond quickly to service issues, ensuring proper documentation and resolution
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships

Qualifications

  • Experience in a management, supervisory, or leadership role (janitorial or facilities experience preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sites, teams, and priorities
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory, and service-based operations
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Physically able to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation

Additional Skills

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, products, and equipment is a plus
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule as needed, including occasional weekends or urgent situations
