Overview
Seeking a compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our adult primary care team. In this role, you will work closely with resident physicians to support high-quality, patient-centered care for adult populations. Some responsibilities will include rooming patients, conducting pre-visit planning calls, and assisting with clinical workflows to ensure smooth and efficient visits.
The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.
We may also consider candidates without active certification, but with some healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and collect information on chief complaint, family, social, and surgical history, along with full medication reconciliation
- Complete telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities as directed
- Gather and maintain patient information via telephone per department policies
- Perform administrative tasks including patient check‑in/check‑out, prior authorizations, scheduling, verification of benefits, and coordinating referrals and testing
- Carry out office procedures per department competencies
- Perform procedures such as urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, suture or staple removal, cast application/removal under provider direction, and point‑of‑care diagnostic testing
- Read negative TB skin test results and direct patients to nursing staff when results appear positive
- Provide written instructions for procedures, medications, and follow‑up per provider direction
- Retrieve and provide condition‑specific patient education from approved sources per provider orders
- Administer medications under provider orders
- Assist with prescription refills per department protocols
- Call medications into pharmacies, notify patients of refills, and document actions in the EMR
- Maintain competencies in point‑of‑care testing, equipment handling, and specialty skills
- Administer immunizations, PPD tests, nebulizer treatments, and oral medications to patients ages 18–150
- Obtain vital signs for patients ages 18–150, including weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, and pulse oximetry
- Complete medication reconciliation for all medications, including over‑the‑counter products
- Perform pre‑visit telephone calls to complete medication reconciliation and verify allergies/history
- Assist patients with completing forms
- Maintain the assigned provider’s Team‑Based Care binder

- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health (AAH)
- Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- High School Diploma or GED
