The Critical Care Transport Nurse (CCTRN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care throughout all aspects of ground transport, including triage, assessment, and treatment while practicing in accordance with established policies and protocols under the direction of the Critical Care Transport Program Medical Director. In collaboration with their transport partner, the CCTRN evaluates the nature and extent of the patient's illness or injury, establishes and prioritizes care needs, and ensures the safe transfer of patients across the lifespan to appropriate facilities. Safety is maintained as the highest priority throughout the transport continuum, and the CCTRN further supports the program through public relations activities, education of regional providers, quality reviews of transports, case study evaluations, and other initiatives that promote continuous improvement and strengthen community engagement. In addition, the CCTRN functions as a key member of an Emergency Medical Service crew performing 911 operations within the Arrow Ambulance program.

Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Indiana (IN) - Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA)
and
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR);
and
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
and
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA);
and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA);
and
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 3 months - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP);
and
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) within 3 months - International Trauma Life Support (ITLS);
or
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) within 3 months - National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT);
and
ICS-100: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
ICS-200: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
ICS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
ICS-800: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
Hazardous Materials Awareness (HazMat) within 6 months - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
and
National Nursing Certification - Varies;
and
Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) within 2 years - Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN);
or
Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) within 2 years - Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN);
and
Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) within 6 months - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA);
or
Licensed Paramedic - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH);
