Overview
Responsibilities
Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, other medical personnel, patient and equipment
Participates in patient and referring institution follow up
Participates in planned outreach marketing and education activities
Attends pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation
Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested (i.e., radio, navigational and visual observation activities)
Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, other medical personnel, patient and equipment
Serves as flight resource to neonatal/obstetric personnel when transporting specialty team and patient
Conducts safety briefings as necessary
Communicates with appropriate medical personnel regarding patient condition, history, treatments, response to treatments and other relevant information
Maintains safety, security, cleanliness and appearance of the aircraft, equipment and supplies including controlled substances and patient belongings
Ability to work in confined mobile spaces
Participates in departmental quality improvement activities
Completes reports that are accurate and legible while ensuring that medical, billing and administrative information is complete
Becomes knowledgeable in all aspects of flight physiology, flight safety procedures, ground handling, emergent and non-emergent ambulance operations, navigation, and radio or telephonic communication
Will remain within the safety standard of 235 pounds or less (235 pounds will include flight suit, boots, helmet and coat)
Ability to work both in air and ground ambulance
Adheres to Carle Behavior Standards
Promotes Critical Care Transport program throughout Carle Hospital
Other duties as assigned
Initiate IV placement within a clinical setting
Respond to 911 and emergency calls and provide medical assistance based on licensure level as needed.
