Founded on April 28, 1881, the Village of St. Joseph is a municipal corporation with just under 4,000 residents. The Village is under a President/Trustee form of government; each of six Trustees and President (Mayor) are elected at-large on 4-year staggered terms. The Village of St. Joseph is a charming bedroom community, which offers a high quality life. The Village offers many local amenities to shop, eat, and play. The Village is also conveniently located near the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area. The Village is only a short 10-15 minute drive to the University of Illinois, Willard Airport, numerous healthcare facilities, and many other desirable amenities.
