The Village of Savoy, Illinois (population 8,857) is looking for part-time experienced firefighters who can further the Village’s evolution of public safety services by complimenting current paidon-call staff. Firefighters protect life and property by performing firefighting; emergency aid; hazardous materials; and fire prevention duties. Firefighters also maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities. This is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt position within the Fire Department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic Operations Firefighter certification or Firefighter II certification with the ability to obtain Basic Operations Firefighter certification within 6 months of hire.

• Three or more years of experience in a public, private, or federal fire department.

• Valid Non-CDL Class B Illinois driver’s license or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.

• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Emergency Vehicle Operations or Fire Service Vehicle Operator course completion.

• Successful completion of the State of Illinois Traffic Incident Management course.

• Fire Service Instructor 1 course completion.

• Illinois Department of Public Health First Responder or EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic certification.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time position without benefits. Hourly pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.25 per hour depending on qualifications.
