TITLE: 21st CCLC Elementary Teacher

LOCATION: Dr. Preston Williams Elementary

SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the Program Coordinator, building administration, and district director.

JOB SUMMARY: The Elementary Teacher is responsible for establishing a developmentally appropriate learning environment. The mission of the program is to assist students in catching up on academics while also providing enrichment and recreational activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

1. Prepare lesson plans and implement them to provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that assists students assigned to the classroom with achieving specific education goals.
2. Create a classroom environment that is welcoming to all students.
3. Develop and implement general classroom procedures, goals, schedules, and behavior expectations for students.
4. Plan and implement activities inside and outside of the classroom that expose the students to a variety of experiences to broaden the students' perspective, such as field trips, cooking activities, and STEM experiments.
5. Review, develop, and requisition materials for the classroom.
6. Meet all requirements for classroom teachers as outlined by the Program Coordinator, building administration, and district director.
7. Administer progress monitoring screeners to determine student growth in math and reading and documenting student performance.
8. Document student attendance daily.
9. Perform regular communication with parents.
10. Support parent and community events, 1-2 per session.
11. Assist with activities that support the program such as supervision in cafeteria, hallway movement, and other duties as assigned.

Minimal Educational Requirements:

1. Bachelors' Degree from an accredited college or university, with certifications and endorsements as applicable.

Experience:

1. Classroom experience preferred.
2. Prior experience working in an After School Program, preferred but not required.
3. Internal applicants only.

Licenses/Credentials:

1. Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.

Other skills and abilities:

1. Ability to assess children and knowledge of childhood development.
2. Ability to communicate and work effectively on a collaborative team.
3. Ability to effectively work with students with a history of behavioral, social/emotional and/or developmental disabilities.
4. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and responses.
5. CBA Hourly Pay Rate

Terms of Employment:

1. Daily hours TBD, four days a week (September 8, 2026 - May 20, 2026)
2. Position is for after school programming, and only when the program is in session.
3. Attendance at an orientation meeting is expected prior to the start of this program.

Evaluation:

1. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.

NOTE:

1. This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in nature.
2. Position contingent upon grant funding.
3. Preference given to internal building staff and will be open to district staff to help fill positions.
4. $32/hour
