Building Service Worker

Champaign Park District – Part-Time, PT2 (not to exceed 19 hours per week on average)


About the Job

As a Building Service Worker, you’ll help keep Champaign Park District facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for the community. Your work ensures that parks, recreation centers, and event spaces are well-maintained, operational, and ready for daily use. From custodial care to event setup and minor maintenance, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting smooth facility operations across the district.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • • Clean and maintain assigned buildings, including restrooms, floors, windows, and common areas
  • • Perform routine custodial tasks and support additional cleaning needs as assigned
  • • Safely operate and maintain custodial tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • • Assist with event and program setup, including arranging furniture and equipment
  • • Maintain exterior facility appearance and perform seasonal outdoor tasks
  • • Report facility or equipment issues, vandalism, and safety concerns
  • • Enforce Park District rules and support a secure environment
  • • Perform minor repairs, including accessing confined spaces or elevated areas
  • • Lift up to 60 pounds unassisted and operate various maintenance equipment
  • • Work additional hours as requested and travel between district locations
  • • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with Park District policies
  • • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be willing to travel to different locations thru out the district
  • Ability to understand and work from written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sanitation techniques
  • Ability to operate power equipment and hand tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment by established procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with clean driving record
