Pottery InstructorChampaign Park District – Part-Time (PT2), Non-Exempt – Hours not to exceed 19 per week
About the Job:Share your passion for clay and creativity with the Champaign Park District! As a Pottery Instructor, you’ll help plan and lead pottery and ceramics classes for participants of all ages and skill levels. You’ll provide hands-on instruction in wheel throwing, hand building, glazing, and firing while fostering a fun, safe, and inspiring environment where everyone can explore their artistic potential.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Assist the Pottery Supervisor in planning and leading pottery and ceramic classes, workshops, and activities.
- Prepare instructional materials, tools, and demonstrations for each class.
- Teach both wheel throwing and hand-building techniques to children and adults.
- Maintain accurate class attendance and student progress records.
- Ensure equipment, tools, and studio spaces are properly maintained and cleaned.
- Promote safety by monitoring use of glazes, chemicals, and kiln equipment.
- Provide constructive feedback and evaluations to the Pottery Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Support program operations by completing reports and documentation promptly.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ceramics, clay preparation, glazing, and firing techniques.
- Proficiency in both hand building and wheel throwing techniques and ability to teach these skills to participants of varying ages and experience levels.
- Prior experience working with children, youth, and adults in an instructional or educational setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff members.
