Duties Responsibilities Animal Program Management • Ensure teaching animal use complies with applicable IACUC protocols, maintaining accurate records of animal utilization across instructional activities. • Work with horses to ensure their behavior is suitable for teaching laboratories. • Ensure prescribed treatments for specific animals are completed. • Support development and implementation of IACUC protocols governing production animals at VMF and the Horse Farm. Operations, Personnel Research Support • Provide technical and administrative support to faculty principal investigators on teaching and production IACUC protocols college-wide. • Establish written research targets, develop standard operating procedures, and enforce consistent research methodology associated with the unit. • Directly supervise farm staff and student workers at both facilities. Budget College Coordination • Manage budgets for VMF, Horse Farm, and teaching and production animal operations, including routine financial reporting. • Serve as the primary liaison between the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Animal Sciences (ANSC) for teaching animal scheduling and coordination. Support of the Bovine Theriogenology Service • Support scheduling, case coordination, record management, and client communication. • Provide both laboratory and cow-side technical support for the service.
