Duties Responsibilities Advising/Retention/Student Life • Coordinate and provide structure for the academic student advising for undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Science in Architecture Studies (BSAS) and BSAS Minor; and Graduate Students in the M.Arch and M.Arch 2+ programs. • Support and advise, as needed, all undergraduate and graduate students regarding course registration, scheduling, and program requirements to aid students in their academic success. • Develop interventions for at risk students by providing counseling, general assistance, and making referrals to other services in the University community. • Facilitate strong student and faculty relationships by fostering the educational process and student retention. • Leads ISoA activities, including, but not limited to the Career XPO, Graduation, Scholarship Award Ceremony (A3), student organizations symposiums and activities, and course and studio presentations with support and coordination from advisors and office support staff. • Supervise all FAIR and Grade Appeal for students. • Advise students on how to monitor and track academic development to advocate on their behalf to resolve course scheduling conflicts, course topics, and implementation of programs to assist in their progress towards degree completion. • Advise, track and monitor student success and career development needs and oversee the collection of students’ career pathways after graduation. • Advise organization officers and student ambassadors at the beginning of the academic year and oversee the process for faculty advisor appointments for student organizations. • Collaborate with the Coordinators for Graduate and Undergraduate Programs and Curriculum, PhD. Chair, and Program Areas Chairs regarding student needs, progress, and success. Administration • Functional oversight of the ISoA Student Services Office through the supervision of Academic Professionals, Civil Service, and student employees. • Provide administrative support to the Director in long-range planning relating to Student Affairs and Student Success. • Develop reports on actual and projected enrollment for studios at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels and of other Core and Elective classes. • Coordinate with the Director of FAA Advancement, Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs and Curriculum, business office and Awards Committee for scholarships and A3 awards and program for undergraduate and graduate students. • Other relevant duties as assigned to further the mission of ISoA. • Approve all Student affairs grades. • Participate as the Student Affairs representative in the Architecture Students Association Council (ASAC) • Supervise advisors regarding all components of preparation for architectural licensure. Admissions • Direct student Admission Process in collaboration with the Coordinator for Graduate Programs and Curriculum, Undergraduate Academic Advisor, FAA and Graduate College Staff. • Oversee Student Visits and Open House Days. • Manage the School’s admission and welcome events by planning and implementing orientation programs, registration, and advising sessions each semester for all first-year Undergraduate, transfer, and Graduate Students, in conversation with the Coordinators for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs and Curriculum • Report admissions statistics to faculty on a regular basis. • Oversee the annual summer Discover Architecture Pre-College program.
