Security Officer Supervisor
Division of Public Safety
The Division of Public Safety is now hiring a Security Officer Supervisor who will be responsible for the training, supervision and discipline of Security Officers. In addition, the Security Officer Supervisor will be responsible for the preparation of security reports, program evaluations, and comprehensive investigation reports.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct the operation of the Security Officer program to ensure the program is adequately staffed. Responsibilities include establishing work assignments, supervising, training, and evaluating employees.
- Prepare reports, document incidents, and maintain accountability of equipment and resources.
- Conduct inspections, ensure adherence to policies, and enforce performance standards.
- Serve as liaison between officers and management, ensuring effective communication and operational alignment.
- Conduct interviews and assist with training, on-boarding, and skill development for new personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license. (Provide a copy when applying)
- No record of conviction of a felony, or of a crime involving moral turpitude.
- Valid State of Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
- Two years (24 months) of experience performing duties at or comparable to that performed at the Security Officer level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of security enforcement practices, techniques, and leadership skills.
- Extensive knowledge of facility security requirements and regulations.
- Ability to effectively supervise.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive operational reports.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and techniques, including first aid, and CPR.
- Knowledge of defensive training and response protocols for security breaches.
- Knowledge of negotiation and persuasion dialogue managing initial communication in crisis situations.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4213 - Security Sergeant position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The wage for this position is $31.48/hr.
