The College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) (http://www.ahs.illinois.edu) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is accepting applications for an Online Course Training Specialist. The Online Course Training Specialist will be responsible for training and supporting AHS Online instructors before, during, and after the conclusion of online course offerings. This role involves coordinating and supporting a range of academic and logistical activities to ensure a smooth and effective learning experience for all students.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support online instruction
- Train instructors on all aspects of online course preparation to ensure smooth course operations and delivery of each course offering.
- Maintain training records and ensure that all online instructors follow College policy.
- Train and support instructors in the use of instructional technologies, including Canvas, Zoom, Kaltura, and others.
- Resolve support requests from faculty and staff as needed during course delivery for issues related to course management.
- Develop and maintain a detailed record of all AHS Online courses, including operational processes, course offering schedules, revision and update schedules, and other logistical considerations.
- Develop online tutorials, technical documentation, training sessions, and related web content for online instructional strategies.
- Support accessibility and quality control initiatives
- Ensure high quality online instruction by copyediting and reviewing all online courses for content, functionality, alignment with appropriate style guides, quality standards, and universal design for learning principles.
- Track all improvements and corrections needed for online courses and work with AHS team members to ensure timely and consistent completion of these tasks.
- Ensure compliance in digital accessibility, licensing, and copyright laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities such as history, political science, literature, journalism, communications, or philosophy
AND
Six (6) months of experience which includes any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching
OR
- Baccalaureate degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities
AND
Eighteen (18) months of experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with learning management systems and technology tools such Canvas, Zoom and Kaltura.
- Experience leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Online teaching experience.
- Experience working directly with faculty in higher education.

- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3289 - Instructional Development Specialist position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/8/2026. The previously determined salary range for this position is $51,831 - $60,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
