The University of Illinois Department of Speech and Hearing Science (SHS) (http://shs.illinois.edu) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position as a Clinical Assistant Professor, with opportunities for advancement. Individuals with demonstrated expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children with communication and/or feeding needs are encouraged to apply. This position emphasizes collaboration with families, caregivers, educators, and interdisciplinary professionals to support each child’s development through individualized, evidence-based, and family-centered approaches.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical education to students in the clinical M.A. program for speech-language pathology; develop a clinical caseload focused on early intervention and/or early childhood, community outreach and engagement, and direct service; contribute to departmental and professional service. The candidate may also coordinate/supervise services provided through school-based contracts within public and private schools, serve as the SHS university supervisor for full-time school placements, and contribute to college and university service. Applicants must hold a graduate degree and clinical certification in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Applicants must also hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (https://www.isbe.net/Pages/Professional-Educator-License.aspx), a current Illinois Speech-Language Pathology license, and meet the 2020 ASHA certification standards for providing clinical instruction and supervision to individuals preparing for ASHA certification by the start date. Previous experience with clinical education of graduate students is required.
An Illinois Early Intervention Specialist: Licensed Speech/Language Pathologist credential is preferred. Priority will be given to individuals with experience in creating collaborative clinical programming.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is June 16, 2026. The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $85,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
