The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for the position of Teaching Associate – Computer Science and Digital Media at the University Laboratory High School.
Uni High is a 5-year public school serving approximately 330 academically motivated students in grades 8–12. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track academic staff position for the 2026–2027 school year, beginning August 2026, contingent upon the successful completion of a fingerprint-based criminal background check. A laboratory mission of innovative curriculum development, outreach to other schools and the community, and/or involvement with professional organizations is part of the overall job responsibilities.
The Teaching Associate position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and the Uni Faculty Organization/IEA-NEA union. For more information regarding the contract, please go to:

The Computer Science and Digital Media teaching associate will be responsible for teaching four courses in the Computer Science and Digital Media Department and contributing to the fulfillment of the Uni High mission through the completion of an individual Lab Mission.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in Computer Science and Digital Media, including Computer Literacy, Yearbook, and/or Electronics and Topics in Computer Science, and demonstrate innovative curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Maintain records of individual student achievement and evaluate students on a daily basis.
- Support Uni High’s shared vision and goals regarding Computer Science and Digital Media.
- Complete a laboratory mission of innovative curriculum development, outreach to other schools and the community, and/or involvement with professional organizations.
Minimum Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a STEM Education related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Educator’s License (PEL)
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a STEM Education related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a middle, secondary, or post-secondary school setting.
- Experience successfully teaching students from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Ability and willingness to assist with co and extracurricular activities.
- Experience creating a learning environment responsive to student needs.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic position. The expected start date is August 16, 2026. The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $72,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. Work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.
