Global Relations at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has an opening for a Partnership Coordinator for Global Relations.
Global Relations facilitates institutional agreements between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and other universities, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private corporations. These agreements create an environment where innovation can move freely across geopolitical, cultural, disciplinary, and academic borders. Primary Position Function/Summary:
Coordinate core services for Global Relations to execute strategic international partnerships and various program initiatives between Illinois and strategic partners through global engagement.
Statement of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of the international partnership agreements process enacted by the University with entities abroad. Evaluate agreement requests sent by college and or department, determine appropriate agreement type (MOU, reciprocal exchange agreements, cooperative education agreement, study abroad agreements, visiting scholar agreement, SPA research agreements, purchasing agreements, scholarship agreement, fellowship agreement) and routing for approvals, enter and track partnership agreements into University system such as Contract Plus, coordinate details with multiple stakeholders, such as International Safety and Security, Risk Management, and University Legal, and communicate with requesting college or unit throughout the process, providing advice and support, refine the process as needed.
- Lead the coordination of incoming and outgoing delegation visits for international partners and Illinois senior leadership. Collaborate with university colleges, departments, and units to ensure maximum impact. Manage all aspects of visit logistics and serve as an escort for distinguished international visitors, including diplomatic and foreign service personnel, and delegations.
- Responsible for performing duties to implement strategic international partnerships, emerging partnerships and other collaborative initiatives between Illinois and strategic partners in the Global South.
- Develop, deliver, and oversee meaningful international protocol documents and services for Chancellor, Provost, Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies, Deans and the Director for Global Relations. Serve as point of contact by providing and guidance to unit representatives on itineraries and arrangements to support on-campus visits and international travel of senior campus administrators.
- Assist with major programs, such as seminar series with strategic partners and campus-wide events, including Fulbright initiatives. Responsibilities include proposing agendas, coordinating branding with Global Communications or the Chancellor’s Office, managing registrations, and working closely with international partners to ensure consistency and accuracy in marketing. Facilitate engagement with external constituents, service providers, diplomatic offices, and internal representatives, while developing and maintaining relationships to ensure efficient collaboration and sustain strategic partnerships.
- Manage evaluation process through data collection and interpretation and make recommendations for programmatic improvement and future engagement. Maintain an interactive inventory and reports of global engagement activities, partnership agreements, including information about student exchange balances, upcoming expiring agreements, and general statistics. Develop and deliver reports to potential students, senior campus administrators, government entities, and mandatory reporting agencies to support campus-wide international initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- One (1) year of education, training, and/or work experience in a position involving global affairs or international engagement.
- Demonstrated cultural experience while studying, living, or working internationally.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning or management.
Preferred: (Successful candidates will have):
- Master’s degree
- Experience working for a university and/or international office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong intercultural communication skills to effectively work with acumen and diplomacy with a variety of international partners and visitors.
- Fluency in a foreign language and/or experience living or working abroad.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate major programs and activities.
- Familiarity with contract management processes and workflow.
Physical Demands, Work Conditions, and Travel Requirements:
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to accommodate the schedules of international partners.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION:
This is a full-time 100% Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The salary for this position is competitive and based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity within Illinois International. The budgeted salary range is $55,000 to $65,000.

Civil Service employees may earn up to 28 days of vacation leave per year, depending on length of service. The University offers 11 annual paid holidays, 12 cumulative sick leave days, plus an additional 13 non-cumulative sick leave days, if needed, each year.
