College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Department of Economics
Assistant Professor
Industrial Organization and International Economics
The Department of Economics invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Industrial Organization and/or International Economics. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Economics or an equivalent degree or expect to receive the Ph.D. before the starting date of employment. Candidates whose Ph.D. may be delayed but will complete all the Ph.D. requirements within the first appointment year may be appointed at the rank of Instructor. After the Ph.D. requirement is met, the appointment will be changed to Assistant Professor.
Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university, and the economics profession. The budgeted salary range for the position is $180,000 to $187,000, for a 9-month service basis. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the full range for a position. The target starting date is August 16, 2026.
The Department offers a Ph.D. degree, a professional Master’s degree (MSPE), and three undergraduate degrees (B.A. in Economics, B.S. in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics, and B.S. in Computer Science and Economics). The Ph.D., MSPE, and B.S. degrees are STEM degrees. For more information, see http://www.economics.illinois.edu.
