Job Summary

The Technician will work as part of a team in supporting the Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency (RIPE) project, focusing on soybean transformation for academic research. The Technician will conduct plant tissue culture and transformation procedures, with the goal of consistently producing healthy, regenerated plants and will work in close collaboration within a small, dedicated research team to ensure timely completion of service requests.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and conduct tissue culture for plant transformation and regeneration.
  • Prepare media, buffers, and stock solutions.
  • Document work in electronic databases and provide regular progress updates during in-person meetings.
  • Label samples, organize stocks, and assist with general lab upkeep and maintenance.

Additional Physical Demands

Laboratory-based work with non-hazardous materials

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Crop Science, or a closely related life science field. Documented experience with aseptic laboratory techniques and sterile handling of lab ware and biological specimens.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in a life sciences field. Experience with plant tissue culture, plant transformation, and bacterial cultures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of aseptic laboratory techniques.
  • Knowledge of media preparation, plant transformation, and plant tissue culture.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Visiting Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $48,000 to $55,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
