Job Summary
Plays an important role in overseeing the administration of over 600 standardized tests, including computer-based and paper-based formats, at the University of Illinois Testing Center. Includes managing daily operations, engaging clients to ensure a positive testing experience, proctoring exams in compliance with established protocols, addressing property-related issues, and troubleshooting technical problems for testing partners, Prometric and Pearson VUE. Ensures the Testing Center operates efficiently, maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory standards while fostering a secure and professional testing environment.Duties & Responsibilities
- Operations • Obtain and maintain certifications as a Test Center Administrator for Pearson VUE and Prometric test companies. • Coordinate the opening and closing of the testing center, ensuring readiness and compliance with contractual obligations. • Serve as the lead Test Center Administrator and manage all operational aspects of testing activities. • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for Pearson VUE and Prometric testing partners. • Learn and utilize administrative system software, policies, and record-keeping processes.
- Leadership
• Assist the Assistant Director to recruit, hire, and train student staff.
• Foster a supportive and professional work environment.
• Act as a liaison with testing companies to address standard operating procedures and irregularities.
• Assist the Assistant Director to develop and manage work schedules for student staff and approve time sheets. - Reporting
• Assist the Assistant Director in compiling and managing data for mid-year and end-of-year reports.
• Maintain daily documentation of testing demographics, capacity, and operational activities. - Perform additional operational and administrative duties as assigned.
Additional Physical Demands
Position involves working flexible hours needed to maintain the staffing requirements of the Center. Testing Center is open Tuesday-Friday, 6:30am until 5:00pm or until testing concludes.Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:
A. College coursework in any curriculum, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including the use of computer systems.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to the second level of this series.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering computer-based testing or proctoring exams
- Experience with administrative functions
- Experience that demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations
- Experience working collaboratively in a team environment

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3243 - Office Support Specialist position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/1/2025. The collective bargaining agreement sets a wage of $21.555/hr. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
