The Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants to fill one or more Adjunct Faculty positions. These positions are non-tenure track and will be between zero to 100% time, depending on the Department's needs. Adjunct Faculty teach assigned courses throughout the semester.
General responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses for the Department of Advertising in one or more instructional fields (on-campus, online, or hybrid), mentoring and overseeing Graduate Teaching Assistants (if relevant), and meeting with instructors of other sections when appropriate.
Teaching Areas:
Advertising:
Responsibilities include teaching classes at the undergraduate or graduate levels, for example special topics classes related to video storytelling, portfolios, advertising technology, sports branding, public relations, advertising or entrepreneurship courses. The successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of excellence in teaching and/or significant professional experience in the content area.
Strategic Brand Communication (SBC)
Responsibilities include developing online graduate-level materials for our online SBC degree, including developing or teaching courses related to business and marketing processes and experiences, advertising and technology, or brand communications. The successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of excellence in teaching or significant professional experience in the course content.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in a field related to the course(s) to be taught. Lesser degrees will be considered if accompanied by significant professional experience. Professional experience in a field related to the course(s) to be taught.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of combined teaching and professional experience in a field relevant to the intended field of instruction. Merit-based exceptions to this qualification will be considered.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. The budgeted salary for these positions is $8500 for each 3-credit hour semester long course; typical 8-week and 16-week course; to be negotiated based on percentage of appointment. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
