The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is searching for an outstanding Clinical or Tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Medical Oncology.

The CVM was founded in 1944 as the nation’s 11th veterinary college and admitted its first class of 24 students in 1948. However, the history of veterinary education, research, and service on the Urbana campus began decades earlier with the appointment of Dr. H. J. Detmers as Professor of Veterinary Science in 1870, shortly after the University was founded as a land-grant institution in 1867. From these beginnings, the college has grown to be ranked 14th in the U.S. and 36th in the world in the 2024 QS World University Rankings of veterinary science programs.
Champaign-Urbana (CU) offers the residential advantages of a medium-sized university city and is consistently ranked among the top college towns in the US. The university attracts students and faculty from around the world, with many restaurants, events, and festivals. CU experiences all 4 seasons, has minimal traffic, and has a low cost of living with parks, recreational facilities, and several Forest Preserves within 30 minutes of campus for outdoor activities. Perched at the crossroads of two interstates, CU is 2 hours from Chicago and has easy access to many other cities in the Midwest including St. Louis, Indianapolis, Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, and Milwaukee.
Required qualifications: The successful candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent and have completed a residency program in Medical Oncology. Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or credentials acceptable by ACVIM for board eligibility is required. Desirable candidates are expected to successfully balance the tripartite mission with enthusiasm for clinical service and teaching, as well as demonstrate curiosity for scientific discovery. We are looking for a candidate who is a strong team player and is highly motivated to join a growing Integrated Oncology Program, merging all facets of Oncology (Medical, Surgical, and Radiation disciplines). Candidates should be interested in developing productive research, service, and/or teaching programs that can integrate with activities of other groups across the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus involved in basic and clinical science cancer investigations. Salary: The budgeted salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable positions.
