Job Summary
The laboratory manager will have responsibility for several functions required for day-to-day operation of the lab and support for graduate students, postdocs, and the PI. These responsibilities will include ordering, supply inventory, record keeping, inspections and compliance.Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages all laboratory activities including onboarding and scheduling undergraduate student researchers, maintaining shared laboratory calendars, grants management, and purchasing, compliance, and scheduling equipment service and repair.
- Inventory: manages selecting, purchasing, storing and allocating laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Compliance and inspections: oversees safety and security of lab facilities, including knowledge of and management of IACUC, DRS, and biosafety protocols, and laboratory inspections.
- Liasion to units and HR to manage undergraduate and graduate student appointments as well as other personnel matters.
Additional Physical Demands
Job requires entry and work within BSL1 laboratory spaces.Minimum Qualifications
1. A. Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline closely related to the position AND two (2) years (24 months) of work experience in a laboratory or similar setting closely related to the position OR B. Total of five (5) years (60 months) of any combination of education in a scientific discipline and/or work experience in a laboratory or similar setting related to the position.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory and/or administrative experience.
NOTE: A Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Competence with standard business software and web applications in a laboratory setting.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 2408 - Laboratory Manager position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after November 1, 2024. The salary range for this position is $ $46,547-$65,000 per year. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
