Manager, Gift Documentation
The University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University.
The Manager of Gift Documentation will manage the process for documenting charitable gifts made to the University of Illinois Foundation (UIF) for the benefit of the three universities of the University of Illinois System. As a member of the gift planning operations team, the Manager will draft agreements and work collaboratively with advancement colleagues across the System to help ensure that donors’ intentions for giving to the University are accurately documented and that the priorities of the University are financially supported.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the process for documenting charitable gifts made to the UIF in partnership with central and unit development staff from all three universities of the University of Illinois System, including drafting donor gift agreements and other forms of gift documentation in conformance with approved documentation guidelines, reviewing and recommending edits to outside agreements; and ensuring that donors’ intentions for making gifts are documented and outlined per UIF and University administrative procedures and processes;
- Manages a team of professionals, setting strategic priorities, directing, and prioritizing the team’s work. Delegates and reviews team members’ work to ensure it meets scope, requirements, and deadlines. Hires, trains, develops and recognizes team members’ performance.
- Advises development officers, outside advisors, and donors regarding gift documentation and the structure of gifts.
- Collaborates with internal colleagues, such as gift planners, UIF general counsel, university counsel, UIF gift administration, and university stewardship staff, to resolve issues related to the structure of gifts.
- Trains advancement staff on issues related to gift documentation.
- Utilizes technology to prepare and transmit documents and provide reports on gift and estate documentation efforts.
- Full knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and laws associated with gift agreements and charitable giving.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to interact and build positive relationships with internal and external constituents.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems independently.
- Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two to five years of experience in higher education or a non-profit organization.
- Legal degree; experience in a law firm; or other related experiences working with contracts and agreements; and
- Knowledge of charitable giving techniques and related laws and regulations.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $60,000 per year.
