Job Summary
Oversees the implementation and evaluation of programs and engagement opportunities for families of university students. Reports to the Associate Director of New Student and Family Experiences.Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and coordinating family engagement opportunities, including Moms and Dads Weekends, family events, family webinars. Develop new engagement initiatives with campus partners.
- Develop and manage content for family newsletters. Advance communication by developing newsletters for unique populations.
- Manage social media and NSFE website content that pertains to family resources, outreach, and engagement. Create content that is informative and engaging.
- Assist with planning and execution of Family and Guest Orientation and International Student Orientation sessions. Present at orientation sessions and represent NSFE at webinars.
- Assist with the coordination of the Moms and Dads Associations’ annual scholarships, grants, and awards processes. Provide support for implementation of Association sponsored family weekend events.
- Coordinate branded items for new student orientation and registration, Illini Days, and other admissions related events.
- Contribute to the vision and development of branded materials (brochures, resource guides, family calendar) that promote active family engagement and enhance family outreach.
- Represent and promote NSFE at tabling events, admission fairs, and orientation events.
- Support and advise external partners such as the Dads and Moms Associations. Attend board meetings.
- Assist with the assessment and evaluation of family programs, orientations, special weekends, and services.
- Supervise student workers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to advance the unit and Student Success, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student personnel or other related field.
- Two years of work experience in family engagement, new student programs, programming, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with families of university students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Direct experience with family engagement and programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Organizational leadership and public relation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan, execute, and assess programs and events.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with campus partners and external partners, such as the Moms and Dads Associations.
- Ability to work and relate to a diverse student and family population.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and various social media platforms.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 3/25/2024. The salary range for this position is set as $54,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is unable to support candidates who require work authorization sponsorship.
