Job Summary
The Internship Coordinator will support students and clients in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Internship Program.Duties & Responsibilities
Direct Student Instruction & Coaching
- Identify, develop, and lead introductory technology, organizational, and operational skills, and leadership trainings and courses for students in the program
- Identify appropriate experiential opportunities and establish learning objectives for each student in the program
- Review weekly status reports and hold regular meetings with students to ensure work during the internship can lead to successful completion of the learning objectives
- Provide one on one coaching for students struggling to meet expectations
- Assist students with achieving their learning outcomes- identify additional resources to learn technology, assist with project management if not provided by the client, encourage participation in supplemental workshops, provide feedback on deliverables.
- Supervise and guide students through the process of troubleshooting and resolving technology related problems.
- Coordinate, oversee, and monitor progress of student led projects.
Program Coordination
- Find and facilitate technology-based internships for LAS Undergrads by working with LAS academic units to help determine how technology experiences can supplement and enhance skills learned through traditional academic curriculum.
- Interview and place students into appropriate internship placements
- Work with academic units to find discipline specific courses for students seeking credit or additional training
- Meet independently with clients to define project needs and goals.
- Work with other program staff and ATLAS Leadership to create and maintain student handbook, MOUs, and other program documentation.
- Assist with maintaining internship records including LMS course sites and databases.
Development & Outreach
- Collaborate with the Associate Director to develop and implement the strategic goals of the program
- Reach out to organizations in the Champaign-Urbana community who may be good partner serving as clients with the ATLAS Internship Program
- Maintain relationships with University and community clients
- Coordinate with advancement for alumni and corporate sponsorships
- Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities
Other duties to further the mission of the unit.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in one or more of the following: teaching and assisting students in solving problems, experience working in a technology related setting, experience coordinating and overseeing complex projects or teams of people.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in higher education.
Experience in academic advising of students
Experience working with college students to establish individual learning objectives
Experience monitoring academic progress outside of a traditional classroom environment
Experience in a professional service organization or customer service field serving a wide variety of clients
Experience supervising personnel.
Experience in project management methodologies.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The target salary for this position is $55,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
