Faculty/Staff Assistance and Well-Being Services (FSAWS) is the University’s internal Employee Assistance Program. FSAWS provides counseling support to employees, retirees and their household members covering a wide spectrum of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, couples’ issues and work-related concerns. Services include assessment, short-term counseling, crisis services and referrals to appropriate resources. FSAWS currently has a very experienced and well-respected team that supports the UIUC campus. Candidates with an LPC/LSW can expect to grow in their profession working towards their clinical license. FSAWS Counselors provide in-person and virtual sessions allowing flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.
Job Summary
Provides counseling support to University of Illinois faculty/staff, retirees, and members of their households who may be experiencing problems such as mental or emotional distress, trauma, substance use, relationship or family distress, or job difficulties which could affect work performance as well as personal functioning.Duties & Responsibilities
- Counseling Services – Provide comprehensive clinical assessment, short-term counseling, crisis intervention and make referrals for treatment or other supportive resources. Provide case management and follow up services to each employee or family member utilizing FSAWS, as appropriate. Assess employees for the Faculty/Staff Emergency Fund. Become knowledgeable about and adhere to office procedures as they pertain to client services, i.e., confidentiality, case files, office schedule.
- Demonstrate proficiency in being able to answer and appropriately handle all inbound phone calls, both to the FSAWS mainline and the crisis line. Assist in the evaluation of services provided by Faculty/Staff Assistance and Well-Being Services.
- Provide training to administrators, directors, managers, supervisors, foremen, etc. to help them identify the troubled employee in the workplace and make referrals to Faculty/Staff Assistance and Well-Being Services.
- Develop and provide education and outreach to the campus community regarding work/life integration.
- Partner with Illinois Human Resources staff about employees, departments, units, and colleges who are having difficulties or who need mental health services.
- Identify additional resources in the community to service clients and their various clinical needs and share with FSAWS colleagues.
Minimum Qualifications
A licensed counselor with a master’s degree in social work or psychology with LPC or LSW licensing or equivalent. A minimum of 1-3 years of clinical experience is required. Previous experience working in a university setting and/or employee assistance program is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of clinical experience.
LCPC or LCSW licensing.
Previous experience working in a university setting and/or employee assistance program.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Salary is commensurate with experience.
