Adjunct Professors - College of Law

Spring 2024

The University of Illinois College of Law in Urbana Champaign is one of the oldest law schools in the country, with an accomplished and influential faculty, a smart and collegial student body, and a strong alumni network. In addition to its full-time faculty, the College of Law regularly employs distinguished lawyers and academics as adjunct professors, particularly in its upper-division elective courses. The College of Law is currently accepting applications for adjunct faculty positions.  Though it will consider applications from lawyers in all subject-matter areas, it expects to have particular needs in:

International Bankruptcy
Leadership & the Law
Moot Court Coach
Technology Law, Artificial Intelligence & Policy
Trial Team Coach

Most classes meet in the Law Building in Champaign one to three days per week for one to two hours; some meet during the day and others in the evening. The College occasionally offers classes in Chicago or hosted online. Each will be taught during the spring semester starting in January 2024.

A JD and five or more years of subject-relevant practice experience required; prior teaching experience and a current law license strongly preferred.

Appointment Information

These are 3.5% to 10% Academic positions, appointed for one semester. The anticipated start date of each appointment is January 1, 2024. Compensation is based on a variety of factors but at a minimum of $2000 per credit hour taught. These positions are not eligible for University benefits.
