Illinois is the place where we embrace difference. We embrace it because we value it. The university is especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the Illinois community.

The Department of Economics invites applicants for a full-time tenured faculty position at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The department will consider applicants in any research area. Senior applicants whose research profile fits any of the currently vacant endowed Chairs available to faculty in the Department of Economics will also be considered for the appropriate Chair.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Economics or an equivalent degree and must have a record of publication indicative of an appointment as an associate/full professor. Applicants with the ability to add intellectual diversity, work successfully with diverse students and colleagues, and mentor diverse students and junior colleagues are especially encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university, and the economics profession. Salary will be commensurate with the research record, qualifications, and accomplishments. The target starting date is August 16, 2024.

The Department offers a Ph.D. degree, a professional Master’s degree (MSPE), and three undergraduate degrees (B.A. in Economics, B.S. in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics, and B.S. in Computer Science and Economics). The Ph.D., MSPE, and B.S. degrees are STEM degrees. For more information, see http://www.economics.illinois.edu.
