As Plastipak Plant Engineer - HVAC / Pump Room, you optimize performance of our Champaign site industrial mechanical systems, specifically, the HVAC, compressor systems and pump room systems. Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, you drive continuous improvement to increase efficiency & strengthen operations of pump room systems.

You Will

  • Continually measure & assess existing pump room systems, including compressors, chillers & water pumps, identifying both current & potential issues & opportunities.

  • Develop project proposals to improve systems’ efficiency, reliability & overall performance, including refurbishment or replacement recommendations, project requirements & budget estimates.

  • As project manager, establish project plans & schedules and oversee project workflow to ensure projects delivery achieves time, quality & budget objectives. You’ll manage multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with stakeholders, vendors & technicians.

  • Direct troubleshooting & repairs, serving as one of the emergency contact in our 24/7 facility.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation, recordkeeping & reporting.

You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred

  • An expert-level knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, including HVAC (universal), compressors, chillers & water systems.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining & improving medium/large commercial & institutional HVAC systems, inclusive of industrial compressors, chillers & pump applications. Ideally, this experience is in a manufacturing operation.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Critical thinking & exceptional problem-solving skills.

  • The following attributes: Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated to succeed in a high output environment.

  • Registered Professional Engineer License is a plus.
