The staff accountant reports to the Director of Finance and is part of the finance team. The staff accountant is responsible for assisting the finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, filing multi state sales and use taxes, preparing for assorted audits, budgeting, inventory control, job costing, payroll, benefits, human resources, and fixed assets. 

Education, Professional Requirements, and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred  
  • CPA preferred  
  • Experience with multi state tax filings  
  • Experience in audit preparation and process  
  • Experience in construction and/or telecommunication industries  
  • Familiar with job costing and project accounting  
  • Experience processing payroll

Duties may include: 

  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable  
  • Prepare tax filings for multiple states and municipalities  
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as general ledger account, documenting business transactions, and complete corresponding reconciliations  
  • Communicate with other departments for budgeting and job costing functions  
  • Review, investigate, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports  
  • Ensures all deadlines are met accordance with the closing dates set by management  
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance  
  • Reconciles bank accounts  
  • Reconcile credit card transactions for staff  
  • Other duties as assigned
