Essential Job Functions: Prepare laboratory environments for instruction by assembling necessary resources. Assist faculty with demonstrations, observation, and evaluation of student lab performance. Reinforce knowledge and skills introduced by the course faculty. Monitor and assess daily care and health including daily medical treatments of the program’s animals. Clean and maintain lab equipment. Handle animals for lab use. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree from an AVMA accredited School of Veterinary Technology. Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician in the State of Illinois. Experience in areas of small animal, lab animal or large animal nursing, anesthesia, dentistry, and assistance with routine surgical procedures. Verbal and mathematical abilities sufficient to perform duties and communicate effectively. Sensory and physical requirements related to performing the essential functions of a Vet Tech. Ability to handle equipment or large animals weighing up to 50 pounds with no assistance. Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
