Essential Job Functions: Complete all training and onboarding which may include but is not limited to, Bandana Project training, student orientation, and Mentor Collective training as well as any training identified by the Parkland Peers supervision team. Attend regular weekly in-person supervision meetings Additional supervisor meetings (individual or group) might be required for mentors depending on caseloads and needs. Regularly meet with their mentees in agreed upon methods and frequency which may include emails, texts, in-person meetings, or video chats. Provide advice and guidance to students who are designated as their mentee on a wide range of issues throughout the year such as academics, work-school-life balance, career, personal growth, and mental health. Actively aid and support students during the transition into college life. Provide encouragement and inspiration to mentees. Identify when a student may be experiencing difficulties, which may include basic needs, mental health crises, and academic issues, and develop a plan of support with the Parkland Peers supervision team. Have a good knowledge and understanding of Parkland College’s departments and resources to refer supports as appropriate. Encourage use of college resources. Understand confidentiality and do not discuss mentee information outside of the support meetings with the Parkland Peers supervision team and Mentor Collective. Assist mentees to develop goals toward their education and wellness. Accurately record contacts with mentees on mentor-mentee contact log. Accurately record conversations with mentees in Mentor Collective Dashboard Accurately record time spent on Work Hour Verification Log and time sheet by the deadline. Communicate with employees coordinating mentor program with any concerns and needs for their own support. Participate in tabling and promotional events Check-in weekly on the Parkland Peers Cobra page for updates and announcements Other duties as assigned. Sample Weekly Schedule (15 hours/week) 8 hours: Direct engagement with mentees (meetings, check-ins, support sessions) 2 hours: Documentation (mentor log, Work Hour Verification Log, and Mentor Collective conversation dashboard) 3 hours: Prep and follow-up (planning, outreach, scheduling) 2 hours: Supervision Team coordination and training Minimum Requirements: Completion of at least 30 hours of college credits A 2.0 GPA or above Good academic standing
