Essential Job Functions: Update and maintain web content for Athletics on the Parkland College web site and portal. Provide daily maintenance of scores and records for all Parkland College sports teams on the college website. Accurately report scores to the NJCAA/Presto Website per association and sport guidelines in a timely manner. Research, create, and maintain program records and statistics. Write, publish, and distribute game recaps and press releases. Communicate rosters and statistics with media and opposing programs. Manage in-game stats for all teams. Coordinate with Marketing and Public Relations and the photographer on all team and individual pictures; maintain a database of pictures. Develop and maintain a good relationship with media contacts. Assist with the marketing and promotion of Parkland College Athletics to key constituents. Create programs for home games and special events. Collaborate with Marketing and Public Relations on the development and printing of team posters and schedules. Work with Athletic Director on publicizing Athletes of the Month, Post-Season Awards, and End of the Year Awards. Work with relevant departments in planning and publicizing special events (Hall of Fame, Awards Ceremony). Assist in the maintenance of Athletics social media presence; identify appropriate use of social media as trends emerge. Collaborate with Athletics staff on developing new ideas, determining direction, and identifying target audiences for communications. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree or equivalent combination of work and education. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel, Office Adobe Creative Suite, and Presto software. Knowledge of sports with emphasis on terminology, game reporting, and feature writing. Have a firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the professional social media space; ability to learn new and emerging technologies. Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act. Excellent interpersonal, proofreading, written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize, work with interruptions, and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a team setting and work effectively with a variety of audiences and departments. Availability to work nights and weekends. In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
