Marketing & Digital Content Manager

This position is an on-campus, full-time, 12-month appointment based in Champaign, Illinois covered by the Professional Support Staff (PSS) Union with an annual salary of $50,960.44.

The Marketing and Digital Content Manger is responsible for coordinating the implementation of Parkland College’s marketing initiatives, spanning virtually all available media formats: print, broadcast, social media and digital media.

The Marketing and Digital Content Manager is a full-time, 12-month, Professional Support Staff appointment on a schedule established by the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. The Marketing and Digital Content Manager must be able to work closely with other members of the Marketing and Public Relations department, the Web Governance Committee, Campus Technologies, and other areas of the college. At times, minimal supervision is provided; the Marketing and Digital Content Manager must be able to work independently and accurately prioritize and execute tasks.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Execute marketing and public relations tactics that align with the college’s communication strategy and ensure that the college’s messages are reaching appropriate target audiences.
  • Collaborate with the Enrollment Team and Marketing and Public Relations Director to develop, implement, and manage the college’s recruitment promotional schedule.
    In collaboration with the Director, monitor workflow and trafficking of project implementation.
  • Identify needs using a client-focused approach and design campaigns that provide key marketing deliverables within the defined project scope and budget and align to the college’s communication strategy.
  • Monitor web content for adherence and conformity to editorial design and accessibility, and alert appropriate parties of inaccurate or out-of-date content; ensure the college’s digital presence conveys the Parkland Brand.
  • Facilitate the creation of assets to be presented on Parkland web properties; develop and manage auditing process for all Parkland web properties.
    Act as liaison with Campus Technologies’ Web Team as part of project prioritization process.
  • Stay up-to-date on marketing and website trends and communicate potential opportunities and risks.
  • Provide training and support for college liaisons in utilizing the website content management system.
  • Coordinate and electronically publish time-sensitive college information to appropriate sources.
  • Serve as Marketing’s main point of contact for collaboration with Admissions on facilitation and development of SLATE email campaigns and live-event software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, or related field AND three (3) years of marketing, public relations, website and/or project management experience; OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, FTP/SFTP, and HTML.
  • Functional knowledge of content management, project management software, and desktop computing.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, implement their use, and instruct others as changes and upgrades occur.
  • Communication and problem-solving skills sufficient to perform the duties of the position and communicate effectively with clients.
  • In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
