Professional Development Community Education Instructor
Community Education Adjunct instructor appointments are located on Parkland College's Campus in Champaign, Illinois and are paid $50.00 - 150.00 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Community Education is positioned to be a “one-stop", providing quality, varied, and customer focused programming for the varying community age demographics, interest and needs. We specialize in lifelong learning opportunities for professional growth, career enhancement, educational travel, and personal enrichment. Hiring needs are dependent on student enrollment and course schedules. Salary is dependent on qualifications.

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform professional duties in accordance with the established policies and procedures.
- Submit a complete proposal per class including proposed budget.
- Submit a complete syllabus and learning objectives.
- Provide classroom instructions in accordance with stated objectives, and established course outline.
- Engage and interact effectively with students of all ages and abilities, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and adapt instructional methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles, ensuring that course content is accessible and comprehensible for adult learners
- Connect course material to learners’ real work and goals; provide opportunities and tools for learners to immediately apply learned skills
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to convey complex concepts in an engaging and understandable manner
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to create a positive and interactive classroom experience
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or applicable experience.
- Prior experience or proficiency in proposed area of instruction.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Professional attitude.
- Cultural awareness/sensitivity.
- Ability to work with others.
- In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
