This position is a Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) appointment.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Tenure-Track Faculty teach a full-time load as per the PAE bargaining agreement, advise and mentor students, and participate in shared governance of their departments and the college.

Essential Job Functions:
- Teach courses in network administration and information security and other related subject areas in accordance with the established course outlines of the college and conduct academic assessment and program evaluation.
- Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the college and the department.
- Provide timely feedback to students and follow college and department procedures and deadlines for posting of grades and required reporting.
- Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies.
- Maintain regular office hours to ensure availability for student consultation.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Develop new curriculum and programs in emerging fields related to network administration and security.
- Collaborate with department chair to design, maintain, and update course curriculum and materials for assigned courses.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the local employers and industry groups to ensure alignment of curriculum with current industry needs.
- Stay current with emerging technologies related to network administration and security.
- Make recommendations on classroom and lab hardware and software to remain current with industry competencies.
- Perform professional duties in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the college and department.
- Participate in service to the college through departmental governance, such as curriculum development, instructional materials selection, and academic assessment, and college-wide shared governance such as Parkland College Association (PCA) Senate, its committees, administrative committees, and accreditation committees.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
- Teaching classes at non-traditional times (evenings and weekends) as well as both in-person and online formats may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in Network Administration field with emphasis in network security.
- Demonstrated experience in intrusion detection, data ethics, penetration testing, malware analysis, threat intelligence, or digital forensics.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
- In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
