Job description: Trim Saw - Skilled Machine Operator
Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Group Manager, the Skilled Machine Operator assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the autonomous maintenance of the Two Pass Door Sizer (Trim Saw) and supporting machinery, including overall process appearance. This position oversees the training of new or junior machine operators. This position plays a key role with the Group Manager in ensuring that JELD-WEN’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are implemented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains accurate PM Schedules in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement, goals and objectives, and KEY Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

Maintains an autonomous (operator) maintenance program adherence for the Door Sizer and applicable supporting equipment.

Monitoring and maintaining door-sizing process equipment and machinery.
-
Setting up door sizing process equipment and machinery.
-
Performing routine inspections of door sizer equipment and machinery.
-
Evaluating efficiency of the process unit regularly, identifying improvements as needed to Group Manager, Maintenance Manager and CI Manager.

Maintain calibration of machine to ensure quality specifications are met.

Maintain activity logs with other Skilled Machine Operators to ensure sustained setup of machine and communication of any adjustments between shifts of operation.

Provides training for new and existing employees as directed by the Group Manager.

Test operation of equipment periodically.

Fix mechanical issues that may occur during the shift.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance – Maintain and organize tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks. Ensure tools are clean and in good working conditions. Report any issues with tools or equipment upon discovery to the supervisor

Check output of machine per PIR and spot any machine related mistakes or flaws.

Setup machines (calibration, cleaning, PM) to start a production cycle.

Assists in the selection of new hires.

May perform other or specified duties as directed by the PM, Assistant Plant Manager, Production Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:

Proven experience as a machine operator.

Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools.

Understanding production procedures.
-
Adherence to safety regulations.

Adherence to defined quality specifications.

Ability to read and understand manuals in English.

Analytical skills.

Attention to detail.

Teamwork and communication skills.

Physical stamina and strength. (50 lbs)

Must be able to read and understand, speak and communicate in English.

High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree a plus.

Must have good communication skills and be able to communicate with many levels of personnel effectively and tactfully in a variety of situations and environments.

Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.

Must have the ability and motivation to learn.

The ability to work in a manufacturing and fast-paced environment.

Have reliable transportation, be punctual and dependable for each assigned shift.

Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.
