Applications & Development Manager Illinois Foundations Seeds Inc. (IFSI) is an independent company delivering the leading research, product development, licensing, and production for the seed industry's sweet corn, vegetable and field crops seed. General Purpose: The Applications & Development Manager provides technical leadership and expertise in modern database management, web development, and enterprise application support. This role ensures that IFSI’s digital infrastructure is secure, reliable, and aligned with corporate IT strategy. In addition to technical development, the position oversees relationships with third-party vendors and manages the ongoing support of critical business systems including Microsoft Access databases, Microsoft Great Plains ERP, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The manager ensures clear scope definition, alignment with organizational goals, and adherence to IT and security standards. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Design, optimize, and maintain database systems for scalability and reliability
- Support ERP systems including Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Maintain Microsoft Access databases, sunsetting outdated applications
- Troubleshoot, repair, and provide support for existing company programs
- Develop and implement a roadmap for database structure and security updates
- Monitor performance, conduct tuning, and manage capacity planning
- Implement and enforce strong data security, access control, and recovery procedures
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and modern web applications
- Ensure solutions are user-friendly, responsive, and integrate seamlessly with internal systems
- Document and apply modern frameworks, coding standards, and accessibility best practices
- Oversee and manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners
- Define clear project scopes, deliverables, timelines, and success measures
- Act as liaison between vendors and management to ensure accountability and alignment with IT and business objectives
- Ensure projects and systems support corporate IT strategy and cybersecurity standards
- Evaluate and recommend emerging tools and technologies that enhance efficiency and security
- Work cross-functionally with Project Managers, Infrastructure Personnel, and Developers
- Translate complex technical needs into actionable business solutions
- Support team growth by mentoring peers and contributing to organizational learning
Qualifications/Knowledge Needed: - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Database Programming, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of proven experience in database programming and web development
- Strong proficiency in SQL and modern web frameworks
- Proficiency in AL, C#, .NET, VBA, with experience in Azure Cloud environments
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Great Plains and Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP systems
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Access databases
- Experience with APIs, cloud platforms, and integration best practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and define project scopes
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and IT compliance
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Agriculture industry experience is a plus
- Ability to work extended hours as needed to support system upgrades or deployments
- This position primarily involves office-based work and occasional travel to company and vendor sites
Benefits: - Employees can expect to be paid between $80,000 to $120,000
- Additional compensation may include a bonus (if relevant)

Reporting: - This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborates closely with company managers. This position will supervise the Application Developer.
