Human Kinetics (HK) is headquartered in Champaign, IL. This position is eligible for on-site, hybrid, or fully remote work.

Job Summary
The K12 Curriculum Specialist is responsible for promoting and supporting the adoption and implementation of Human Kinetics’ K12 instructional materials programs. The K12 Curriculum Specialist will work closely with K12 decision-makers and HK staff to identify customer needs and develop resources to address those needs. They will deliver presentations and trainings for sales opportunities, field testing and implementation trainings. The K12 Curriculum Specialist will possess deep knowledge in Health Education and Physical Education content, pedagogy, and state and national standards, along with a keen passion for supporting educators with the best possible resources and training.
Eligibility for remote work: Human Kinetics is headquartered in Champaign, IL, but this position is eligible for full-time or hybrid telecommuting.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate strong understanding of K12 pedagogy and Health and Physical Education content.
- Develop and exhibit expert understanding of Health and Physical Education standards, current education pedagogy, and market trends.
- Develop and exhibit expert knowledge of Human Kinetics’ K12 print and digital solutions.
- Work closely with colleagues to assemble high-quality ancillary resources (including learning objectives, content, activities, and instructional supports), including print and digital projects.
- Collaborate with Sales, Editorial, Marketing, Production, E-Learning, and Customer Service to address customer needs and develop ancillary resources to support those needs.
- Correlate educational materials to national and state standards and frameworks; develop pacing guides, scope and sequence, and curriculum maps.
- Drive educators to make sound decisions regarding instructional materials and learning outcomes.
- Provide Field Test/Pilot Kick-off Trainings. Support field testing with consistent, on-going communication and support.
- Expertly deliver Program Implementation Trainings and support educators in implementing HK programs with fidelity.
- Maintain positive on-going relationships with the customer, providing support or re-direction to appropriate Human Kinetics' resources as needed.
- Understand sales campaign strategy, market trends and Human Kinetics’ K12 products and services to meet the needs of HK customers.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and goals are met.
- Be productive, exercise efficient work habits, prioritize, and exhibit flexibility.
- Expertly communicate with all levels of state and district K-12 staff.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to travel via plane, train, and automobile.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to rent a car in your name.
Secondary Functions
- Continually develop presentation skills, staying up-to-date on new presentation tools and strategies.
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the most widely-used K12 learning management systems.
- Travel to customer locations as needed to make presentations, meet with decision-makers and train staff. Travel requests are sometimes made with short notice.
- Attend state and national conferences as requested. Attend workshop sessions in an effort to stay current on trends, standards and competitor products.
Job Qualifications
Minimally Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Education.
K12 teacher or Administration certification.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree or higher in Physical Education and/or Health Education teacher preparation.
Minimally Required Experience
5+ year of K12 education experience, including teaching experience.
2+ years of experience conducting teacher in-service training and/or curriculum evaluation/writing.
Preferred Experience
10+ years of K12 education experience, including teaching experience.
3+ years of sales/consulting training experience in the educational sales industry.
