EH&S Assistant Job Description

Position Overview
This position includes, but not limited to scheduling waste pickups, recycling, and assisting maintenance and EH&S with daily, monthly, and quarterly tasks to ensure the three facilities stay compliant with OSHA regulations as well as complying with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. This individual will also be tasked with maintaining logs of completed audits, performing follow ups, and be able to effectively communicate any corrective actions needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Oil and Lab Waste Management
o Maintain and update current SDS books.
o Ensure company is always prepared to submit all relevant environmental waste documents.
• Scheduling pickup of garbage, steel, and wood dumpsters
• Monthly/Quarterly/Semi Annual/Annual required inspections for plant. (Examples below)
o Fire extinguishers
o Emergency exit lights
o Hoist and Crane Inspections
o Forklift Inspections
o Housekeeping, Physical Conditions, and Walking Surfaces Audits
• Basic Facility Maintenance
o Ice/Snow removal
o Painting walkways
o Good Catch/Near Miss Follow ups
• Accompany during audits to have input on environmental questions.
• Assist on follow ups from Audits, RCA, Near Misses, Suggestion Box
• Maintain hazardous materials response documentation.
• Scheduling waste testing and pickup for service.
Required Skills and Experience
• Capable of interacting with management and all levels of employees with diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven program management experience and ability
• Result oriented, dependable, self-starter with strong work ethics.
• Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...)
• High School education or equivalent required
• Comprehensive understanding of EPA, OSHA, DOT, and other compliance regulatory bodies
• 2-5 years health and safety experience
• Strong organizational skills
