Join Our Team: HomeCare Assistant, Senior Resource Center at Family Service. Effective Date: Immediately. Overcoming One of the Biggest Challenges in Advanced Aging: Living Independently. Our HomeCare Assistants offer a middle-ground solution, providing non-medical, supportive care so older adults can live at home as long as possible. Your Role as a HomeCare Assistant: You’ll support clients with tasks they can no longer manage comfortably, following each client’s specific care plan. Typical tasks include: groceries, meal prep, laundry, and cleaning; driving clients to appointments or stores (reliable vehicle required) and assisting with groceries; assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, transferring, supervision, and medication reminders; providing positive, uplifting companionship. Documentation and communication: record daily tasks; report changes in client function, mental health, or cognition; report unsafe or unhealthy living conditions. Participate in staff meetings and trainings; follow policies and procedures. Who You Are: The Ideal Candidate: Interest in working with older adults is key. High school diploma/GED or at least one year of directly related experience (aging population); CNAs are a great fit. Abilities and availability: reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance; can work at least 10 hours/week during business hours; cordial and professional with clients; flexible; organized and efficient with minimal supervision; respectful of diverse lifestyles/cultures; able to read and write for record-keeping; accessible by phone; can complete training successfully; can pass background check and meet Illinois Department of Public Health licensure requirements (Health Care Worker Background Check Act/Code). The Family Service Culture: Family-focused and strongly service oriented; humble, diligent workplace with robust training. The Package: Hourly rate of $15; $15.50 for CNAs; 12 paid holidays per year; PTO accrues from hire (max 200 hours), usable after 90 days; life insurance. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time.
