Join Our Team: HomeCare Assistant, Senior Resource Center at Family Service. Effective Date: Immediately. Our HomeCare Assistants provide non-medical, supportive care to help older adults live at home as long as possible. Responsibilities include: assisting with groceries, meal prep, laundry, and cleaning; providing transportation to appointments and stores (reliable vehicle required) and assisting with putting away groceries; assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, transferring, supervision, and medication reminders per care plan; offering positive companionship. Documentation: record daily tasks; monitor and report changes in clients’ function, mental health, or cognitive status; report unsafe/unhealthy living conditions, all per care plan. Participate in staff meetings and trainings; follow procedures and guidelines. Ideal Candidate: interest in working with older adults; HS diploma/GED or 1+ year related experience (CNAs are a great fit). Requirements/Abilities: reliable vehicle with valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance; minimum 10 hours/week during business hours; cordial and professional demeanor; flexibility; organized and efficient; respectful of diverse needs; able to read/write for record-keeping; reachable by phone; complete HomeCare Assistant training; pass background checks per Illinois Health Care Worker Background Check requirements.
