Join Our Team: HomeCare Assistant, Senior Resource Center at Family ServiceEffective Date: ImmediatelyOvercoming One of the Biggest Challenges in Advanced Aging: Living Independently. Many older adults face mobility changes, pain management, dementia, and/or unease with driving; tasks once automatic can become overwhelming. Our HomeCare Assistants offer a middle-ground solution, providing non-medical, supportive care so older adults can live in their homes as long as possible.Your Role as a HomeCare Assistant: Be a key team member helping clients with tasks they can no longer manage comfortably, following a specific care plan for each client. Typical tasks include:- Helping with groceries, meal prep, laundry, and cleaning.- Driving clients to appointments or stores; bringing in and putting away groceries (requires access to a reliable vehicle).- Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, transferring, supervision, and medication reminders per care plan.- Providing positive, uplifting companionship.Documentation and Communication: Record tasks completed each day; observe and report changes in client function, mental health, or cognitive status; report unsafe/unhealthy living environment elements.Teamwork: Participate in staff meetings and trainings; follow robust procedures/guidelines.Who You Are: Ideal Candidate: Interest in working with older adults; high school diploma, GED, or at least one year of directly related experience (aging population). CNAs are a great fit.Abilities/Availability: Reliable vehicle with standard safety features, valid driver’s license, and insurance to transport clients; can work at least 10 hours/week during business hours; cordial and professional; flexible; organized/efficient with minimal supervision; respectful of diverse lifestyles/cultures/temperaments/needs; can read/write for necessary record-keeping; accessible by phone; can complete HomeCare Assistant training; can complete background check per Illinois Department of Public Health licensure regulations and the Health Care Worker Background Check Act/Code.The Family Service Culture: Family-focused and strongly service oriented; humble and diligent workplace; thorough training; Equal Opportunity Employer.The Package: Hourly rate of $18.75; $19.25 for those with a CNA; 12 paid holidays per year; PTO accrues at hire (max 200 hours), usable after 90 days; Life insurance.
