Join Our Team: Family Caregiver Advocate Champaign & Piatt Counties. Effective Date: Immediately.Your Crucial Role in Caring for the Carers: Helping Ease the Stress of Day-to-Day Caregiving. Unpaid caregivers provide the majority of caregiving nationwide. The State of Illinois offers a Caregiver Advisory service to help caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren build knowledge and skills, navigate services, access resources, and reduce caregiver stress. Our Caregiver Advisor offers that support and guidance to caregivers of older adults residing in Champaign or Piatt County.Your Role as the Caregiver Advisor: Make contacts in Champaign and Piatt Counties with other organizations to build a robust referral network. Find ways to connect with potential clients (e.g., social media, in-person events). Provide clients with information and assistance about available services. Give instruction and training in workshops and in-home meetings. Develop and implement support groups for caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren in Champaign & Piatt Counties. Work with grandparents on challenges like navigating the school system, technology, behavior issues, and children’s grief. Be a listening ear and reliable support who checks in, follows up, and ensures clients are not alone.Who You Are: Ideally, you have knowledge/experience in children’s services (education, CASA, DCFS, or similar). Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred; HS graduates with 5+ years relevant experience with aging or youth populations encouraged to apply. Abilities: cordial and friendly professionalism; understanding of casework and documentation; organized and efficient with minimal supervision; respectful of various lifestyles and needs; reliable transportation and ability to meet clients in homes/schools/public places; can pass a background check.The Family Service Culture: Family-focused and service-oriented workplace valuing kindness, fresh ideas, hard work, and community impact.The Package: $18.00–$23.00 per hour (commensurate with experience). Full-time at 37.5 hours/week. 12 paid holidays; vacation accrual after 90 days (capped at 200 hours). Benefits include mileage reimbursement and paid time off. Work Location: In person.
