Grounds and Custodial Technician

Join our Fairlawn Maintenance Team in Champaign-Urbana as a Grounds and Custodial Technician. We're looking for someone who is passionate about keeping our facilities pristine and committed to our core values of being kind, taking ownership, being flexible, and always striving for excellence.
What will you do?
- Complete assigned resident and manager requested work orders
- Maintain the grounds and building common areas to ensure a beautiful representation of the Fairlawn properties
- Move and arrange furniture and appliances for various properties
- Assist the maintenance team with routine maintenance, including preventative measures and hauling responsibilities
- Maintain good rapport with current and prospective residents
- Inspect units at various stages including pre-moveout, vacant, occupied and final move in
- Ability to follow all OSHA safety standards including but not limited to lifting and back safety
- Learn and ensure compliance with all Fair Housing Laws including local, state, and federal housing regulations (We provide training)

Who you are – We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have at least 1 year of general labor experience or in a physical position working with hands
- Have a Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving history
- Are proficient with relevant technology (e.g. Microsoft Office, AppFolio, Outlook) and can easily adapt to changing technology
- Demonstrate superior attention to detail, high energy and a positive attitude
- Have the ability to work independently and to work closely with other team members

Some additional things you will need:
- Have excellent verbal communication skills
- Availability to work longer hours and weekends during prime leasing season and turnover (specific dates vary from year to year)
- Must be able to perform the physical functions of the position, including but not limited to ability to walk properties, ability to lift 80-100lbs on a regular basis
