Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 4:00pm-12:30am with weekend-on-call rotation

JOB TITLE: AREA MANAGER JANITORIAL (Contract Cleaning Operations)

Position Overview
ESS Clean is currently seeking an experienced leader or supervisor for an Area Manager position in the Champaign-Urbana and surrounding service area. We are looking for a “Hands On” leader who can direct and supervise others, as well as, jump in when needed. This role is responsible for overseeing janitorial services at multiple client locations. This role includes managing cleaning teams, ensuring service quality, maintaining communication with clients, and resolving any issues that arise. You will work directly with both employees and clients, ensuring that cleaning services meet or exceed expectations. A company car or van to drive while working and a full benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead cleaning associates to deliver high-quality janitorial services across multiple client locations.
  • Step in to perform hands-on cleaning tasks when needed to ensure service continuity
  • Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure compliance with customer expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns, requests, or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Manage scheduling of cleaning services, ensuring all customer requirements are met on time.
  • Train and mentor employees to maintain high service standards and safety compliance.
  • Manage supplies and equipment, ensuring all necessary items are stocked and available for teams at each location.
  • Work closely with upper management, reporting performance, addressing operational challenges, and collaborating on solutions.
  • Handle special projects or deep cleaning work as required by the customer.
  • Respond quickly to any client requests or complaints, documenting issues and following through to resolution.
  • Build strong client relationships through clear, proactive communication and reliable service.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a management, supervisory, or team leadership role, ideally in facilities management or janitorial services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities across different client locations.
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and general operations in a service-based industry.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other basic digital tools.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Additional Skills:
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills, with a proactive approach to addressing client needs.
  • Knowledge of cleaning processes, products, and equipment is a plus.
  • Must be willing to adjust hours occasionally to meet business needs, including weekends or emergency situations if required.
