Position Description: The person in this role is responsible for running the DFF booth at the Urbana Farmers Market weekly from May through October and some other local pop-up markets throughout the season. This includes working a preparation day on Fridays with the crew at the farm, which will include making market bouquets, and leading/working most market Saturdays 5 am to 1 pm, regardless of weather conditions. You must be able to commit to at least 20 Friday and Saturday shifts. You will have a second person assisting at most markets. 

This role needs someone with good people and sales skills, who has a positive attitude and is goal-oriented. The person in this role serves as an ambassador for Delight Flower Farm in the community; cultivating positive relationships is crucial to this role. Someone with retail/sales experience is desired to make our booth display look professional. Part of the role includes setting weekly sales goals, which help us to plan our flower harvests, bouquet recipes and prepare for the market. Must be able to bend and lift 50 lbs to load the van and set up the tents, weights, tables, etc.

This is a seasonal part-time position, we’re looking for someone who has interest in doing this for multiple years. Regularly 16 hours/week (Fridays and Saturdays), and possibly more days depending on our events calendar. Starting wage is $19/hr + sales commission when goals are met. Must have reliable transportation, a drivers license, and an iphone. You must be unafraid of waking up early, talking to people, and working with numbers. There’s a surprising amount of math to this position and you have to be willing to learn it!

Required:

• Sales experience: making displays, using a POS (square), have comfort with selling products

• Timeliness, the market starts and ends on time. 

• Willingness to communicate with diverse groups of people

• Excellent communication skills (bonus points for nice handwriting for our signs)
