Cunningham Children’s Home is seeking a Therapist to support youth and families through the Champaign County Redeploy Illinois Program. This role provides assessments, therapy, care coordination, and collaboration with families, courts, and community partners to support positive outcomes for youth involved in the juvenile justice system.

The Therapist serves as a key connection between the client, family, referral sources, and service providers, using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach.

Schedule

  • Core hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (20 hours/week)

  • Must be flexible to meet client needs, including some evenings and weekends

  • Approximately 30% of work may occur outside core hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide individual, group, and/or family therapy

  • Provide case management, care coordination, and referrals for youth and families

  • Collaborate with families, court services, schools, and community providers

  • Participate in child and family team meetings

  • Coordinate with contracted psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and therapists

  • Provide recovery, wellness, and psychoeducation services

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with grant and agency requirements

  • Support discharge planning and follow-up services

  • Participate in clinical supervision and required trainings

  • Serve as an advocate for assigned clients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services required
    (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, required in juvenile justice
    (Experience in child welfare, mental health, or related fields preferred)

  • Strong assessment, counseling, documentation, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively as part of a team

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices

Licenses & Requirements

  • Valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of auto insurance

  • Reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel

  • Ability to pass background checks and drug testing

  • Ability to complete and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification
