CU Aerospace LLC (CUA) seeks a full-time quality engineer to support R&D and production efforts in multidisciplinary fields including propulsion for small spacecraft, compact high power electrical systems, mechanically pumped vacuum systems, space systems hardware, and advanced materials. The position will provide active support for CUA’s current products as well as further support for various ongoing contracts involving both product development and R&D. The applicants should have experience with AS9100D or similar quality management systems’ implementation. Strong detail-oriented problem solving, organization, and communication skills are required.

Required Skills and Education

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related STEM fields, or an Associate’s degree in an engineering discipline with commensurate work experience

2. Experience managing and/or operating QMS environment - AS9100D preferred

3. Familiarity with MRP or ERP systems

4. Microsoft Office proficiency for producing reports and other content (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Prepare, approve and distribute various supporting quality documents and related work instructions required to support assigned programs

2. Develop and maintain required process metrics

3. Identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead projects to implement them

4. Communicate and provide training to personnel regarding execution of QMS system

5. Perform duties of lead auditor for both internal and supplier audits

6. Assist in supply acquisition, purchase order generation, inspection, and reporting

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work environment for this job is both in an office and mixed research laboratory / machine shop. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to perform document creation / review, move to another location in the building, and move back and forth to perform inspections / calibrations / other quality work. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Compensation and Eligibility

The position will include medical, dental, and retirement benefits as well as paid sick, holiday, and vacation time. Work-from-home and flexible work schedules are negotiable. Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
