Qualifications

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Offers consistent, fair, and respectful customer interactions to ensure satisfied shoppers and encourage repeat customer traffic.
  • Projects a helpful, approachable manner – smiling, eye contact, open posture, greeting nearby shoppers. Stops tasks to help a customer with full attention.
  • Uses knowledge of body language and cues, along with talking to customers to understand and provide the desired level of personal service.
  • Answers all phone calls within 3 rings.
  • Understands and communicates the particulars of ownership to shoppers and staff alike.
  • Looks at the sales floor from the perspective of the customer to ensure shelves are full and inviting.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets with Bakery Manager weekly for planning and review of department projects and results. Identifies needs and issues and brings proposed solutions.
  • Understands and works to achieve all department and personal performance goals.
  • Understands and follows all store policies; trains and holds staff accountable to policies.
  • Checks in with Bakery staff about the day’s responsibilities, training, and coaching as needed.
  • Ensures Bakery workflow is efficient and productive with high quality taste, texture and appearance.
  • Attends all mandatory Manager and store meetings.
  • Delegates tasks according to a bakery production schedule to meet stores needs while minimizing product loss (shrink).
  • Checks in with staff daily about the days responsibilities and assists as needed.
  • Ensures staff complete job responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Performs other tasks assigned by Bakery Manager.
  • Works with staff in production.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

  • Assists the Bakery manger department operates within established metrics: Sales growth, Labor, Margin, Shrink & Supply Budget.
  • Assists with all Bakery inventory management and for ensuring Monthly and Quarterly inventories are completed accurately.
  • Ensures adequate supply of all ingredients and supplies needed for planned production; safely and properly store all ordered items; orders according to established procedures.
  • Codes invoices and claims all credits according to established procedures.
  • Assists in managing production for consistency and reliable product availability.
  • Offers products at attractive promotional pricing during established store promotional periods.
  • Communicates product updates and changes with customers via established merchandising practices, marketing channels and FOH
  • Regularly researches and develops new offerings in line with Common Ground’s standards and practices.
  • Accurately figures cost and price of product line according to department Margin goals.
  • Maintains items in POS system, including accurate up-to-date costs, pricing, and all other information according to established standards.
  • Keeps track of industry trends and selection and pricing of competitor offerings.
  • Takes special orders and coordinates production.
  • Effectively manages merchandising of the Bakery products, training staff to consistently high standards for signage, stocking, service, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Maintains department shelf-level signage.
  • Helps to ensure all shrink and transfers are recorded by the established deadline.

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

  • Assists Bakery manager in bakery dept. operates within established metrics: Labor % and SPLH, turnover.
  • Completes staff schedules no later than 2 weeks in advance; schedules Bakery staff according to availability, status, department needs, sales budget, and labor goals.
  • Thoroughly understands attendance and time off policies; trains and coaches staff to properly use the Paycom app and to consistently follow all store policies.
  • Reviews all staff members’ time clock punches, requests off, shift switches; adds notes, ensures accuracy and completes approval process balancing staff and department needs.
  • Directly manages Bakery staff: including hiring, training, feedback and coaching, performance management, reviews, processing wage or status changes, terminations; meets all staff management deadlines, including EAFs and other required paperwork.
  • Ensure staff follow established department procedures for opening, closing, timelines and documentation.
  • Helps create all department training materials.
  • Ensures all staff have access to and knows they can use the Open-Door Policy.
  • Ensures all staff provide excellent customer service.

DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE & SAFETY

  • Ensures excellent communication with staff, other departments, and whole store. Manages staff email group.
  • Ensures all staff provide excellent internal, external, and vendor customer service.
  • Maintains department back stock and storage areas: organization, cleanliness and FIFO.
  • Ensures compliance with all Health Department and ADA requirements.
  • Coordinates and presides over any event participation as required.
  • Ensures staff maintains all required certifications.
  • Understands and adheres to store emergency and safety procedures.
  • Understands employee safety measures for food handling and preparation. Uses the most functional and efficient methods that meet all local and federal health codes.
  • Observes good ergonomic practices and equipment safety; ensures staff are trained.
  • Helps to develop and maintain Preventative Maintenance schedules, Daily/Monthly/Quarterly/Bi-yearly cleaning schedules; follows up to ensure completion.
  • Coordinates repairs of equipment with store leadership.
