Circle of Friends Adult Day Center in Champaign has been assisting older adults and their families since 1997. The Center provides rich socialization and engagement programming to older adults throughout the day, in a friendly, neighborhood environment. Circle of Friends is open Monday - Friday, from 7:30am - 5:30pm.

Position Summary

Circle of Friends is seeking a FULL TIME engagement coordinator to plan, organize and implement engaging activities and programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of participants. This role will work closely with participants, their families, and the care team to create a vibrant and dynamic environment that promotes well-being and quality of life. The schedule is 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Activity Planning and Implementation.

Develop and implement a diverse range of activities and programs that cater to the interest and ability of participants. Actively engage groups and individuals.

Plan and distribute daily, weekly and monthly activity schedules, ensuring a balanced mix of recreational, therapeutic, and social activities.

Adapt activities to meet the varying needs and preference of participants, including those with cognitive impairments or physical limitations.

Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and involved.

2. Collaboration and Communication.

Communicate and work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including the director, nurse, caregiving staff, volunteers and others to ensure holistic care.

Communicate regularly with participants and their families to gather feedback and suggestions for activities.

3. Documenting and Reporting.

Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, participation and level of engagement.

4. Supplies and Resource Management.

Supply materials for all activities.

Manage the activity budget.

Maintain a clean and organized activity and storage area.

5. Training and Supervision.

Train and supervise volunteers and staff to assist with activities. Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure effective activity delivery.

Stay current with best practices and trends in recreational therapy and senior activities.

6. Assisting in Participant Care.

Assist caregiving staff in providing participant support with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, etc., as well as mobility and transfers according to Circle of Friends policies and procedures.

Provide companionship and support to participants, fostering a positive and engaging environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

At least two years of previous experience in activity planning and coordination, preferably in a senior care or adult day setting.

Strong organizational and planning skills required.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging and meaningful activities for older adults required.

Ability to ensure complete confidentiality of private participant and employee information required.

Valid Illinois drivers license and valid vehicle insurance coverage required.

Pre-employment background check, physical and insurance verification check required.
